New York Racing Continues at Aqueduct

Aqueduct Racetrack, the only racetrack in New York City, opens for the 39-day Fall Meet on Wednesday, October 28. First race post is 12:30 p.m. and gates open at 11:00 a.m. unless otherwise indicated. Aqueduct boasts free admission and free general parking seven days a week. There’s plenty of tremendous graded racing during the meet, with 12 graded stakes on the main dirt track, two on the turf, and one on the inner dirt track.

The highlight of the meet is Saturday, November 28, featuring the Grade 1, $300,000 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile, one of the most prestigious mile races in the world. In addition, the day features the Grade 1 Gazelle for 3-year-old fillies and two great juvenile races in the Grade 2 Remsen and Demoiselle.

In addition to great live racing, Aqueduct will be open for simulcasting on Mondays and Tuesday during the rest of the 2009 Aqueduct meet, starting Monday, November 2. There will also be simulcasting during the holiday break from Monday, December 14 through Wednesday, December 23. The track will be completely dark on Christmas Eve, December 24, and Christmas, December 25.

PICK THE PROS AND PONIES KICKS OFF
Sunday, November 1 and Continuing Every Sunday

The best of two great sporting worlds meet every Sunday during Aqueduct’s Fall Meet with the popular Pick the Pros and Ponies Contest.

It’s a free contest in which contestants must correctly pick the winners of four designated National Football League games as well as the winners of races 3 and 5 on the day’s card for the chance to win a $1,000 prize. All entries must be in by 1:00 p.m. on the day of the contest.

WATCH AND WAGER ON THE BREEDERS’ CUP
Friday and Saturday, November 6 - 7

Aqueduct is the perfect place to watch and wager on the Breeders’ Cup on Friday and Saturday, November 6-7. In addition, there will also be great live racing at Aqueduct that weekend. Many of the top dirt juveniles will be contesting the Grade 2 Nashua and the Grade 3 Tempted at Aqueduct on November 7. Also that day is the Grade 2 Red Smith for 3-year-olds & up going 1-3/8 miles on the turf.

BIG A FALL HANDICAPPING CHALLENGE
Saturday and Sunday, November 14 - 15

The nationally acclaimed 2009 Aqueduct Fall Handicapping Challenge is scheduled for Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15. There will be $80,000 in prize money up for grabs, based on 200 entrants. The top three finishers will be automatically eligible for the 2010 Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas on January 29-30. Whet your thoroughbred racing appetite as you prepare for the meal of the year! An early post time gets you home on time for turkey, yams, and stuffing. The Grade 3 Fall Highweight Championship is featured on the special holiday card. Post time 11:25 a.m., and racing concludes at approximately 3:00 p.m.

BLACK FRIDAY
Friday, November 27

It’s the biggest shopping day of the year, which is all the more reason to head to Aqueduct for a day of live racing, featuring the Grade 2 Top Flight Handicap. Post time is noon.

HILL ‘N’ DALE CIGAR MILE, REMSEN, DEMOISELLE, GAZELLE
Saturday, November 28

The final two Grade 1 races in New York this year are the $300,000 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile and the $300,000 Gazelle for 3-year-old fillies, a new addition to the Big A calendar. These two prestigious contests top a spectacular card also featuring a pair of important Grade 2 races for juveniles, the Remsen for colts and the Demoiselle for fillies, both run at 1-1/8 miles. For many of these young horses, the Remsen and Demoiselle will mark their first tries around two turns. Post time is noon.

NEW YORK LOTTERY ON TRACK
Saturday and Sunday, November 28 –29

The New York Lottery will be at Aqueduct on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29 as part of the fantastic Holidayfest week of racing. The New York Lottery will be set up outside of the NYRA Store at Aqueduct with a host of special games for lottery customers. It will be an event that no one will want to miss.

STOCKING STUFFER WEEKEND
Saturday and Sunday, December 5 - 6

Big A Closed for Live Racing Monday 12/14 – Friday 12/25

Aqueduct will take a holiday recess with no live racing scheduled Monday, December 14 through Christmas Day, Friday, December 25. Simulcast wagering will be available at Aqueduct December 14 through December 23. Aqueduct will re-open for live racing on Saturday, December 26.
